INTRO TO NEW TESTAMENT:

Christian ministry is rooted in the knowledge of the Christian scriptures and of the people of the New Testament, movements, issues, and approaches that have shaped its study. We study themes, issues, and content surrounding the books, bearing in mind the political, sociological, and religious background of the life and ministry of Jesus and the first followers. Students will use analytical, critical, and exegetical tools and skills. This formation is an essential background to any application of the biblical basis of faith to the practice of every type of Christian ministry

Lecturer: Pastor Marc Etive.

Mondays: 5pm

CHURCH HISTORY:

History of the Christian Church is a survey of the development of the Christian Church from the close of the New Testament period to the present time, with special attention to the origins and beliefs of various denominations. It aims to enable students to converse intelligently about current church issues from an historical perspective, to provide students with resources necessary for conducting further research in church history, and to inspire students to continue seeking their personal role in participating in the life of the Church and serving under the Great Commission.

Lecturer: Pastor Sylvio Menelas.

Thursdays: 7pm

WORSHIP AND LITURGY:

Worship is one of the fundamental expressions of the Christian religion. The gathered community of believers expresses the identity, the belief system, and the tradition of the worshippers. We will explore what elements develop creative, relevant, and beneficial worship services in the Mauritian context as we dialogue with the historical development of worship. Participants will bring their own share of alternative forms of worship, considering music and cultural forms. This IS NOT on Praise & Worship, although included. It is about the whole service, planning calendars/events, and church life that welcomes and includes all peoples

Lecturer: Rev. Dr Rodney Curpanen.

Tuesdays: 5.30pm
